Bill of Rights Exhibit at Stonewall Library

Be sure to visit the Stonewall Public Library in the new year to view this wonderful pop-up exhibit featuring tons of great information about the Bill of Rights! Our thanks to the Mississippi Humanities Council, the Federation of State Humanities Councils, and the US National Archives for making this exhibit available to Mississippi libraries.

With 2016 winding down, we thought we'd take a look back at the year's most popular items here at the library! Today we will look the five most popular books, with movies coming up this Thursday. Here is the list:

Grand Re-Opening at Bay Springs Library

Don't forget our "Grand Re-Opening" tomorrow morning at the Bay Springs Library. The program will get started at 10:30 AM. We hope you can make it!

EMRLS Revised Holiday Hours

With the holiday season upon us, all branches of the East Mississippi Regional Library System will be observing the following revised hours of operation in observance of Christmas and New Year's Day: 

• Thursday, December 22nd, 2016: All branches closed for staff development day.
• Monday, December 26th, 2016: All branches closed in observance of Christmas Day.
• Monday, January 2nd, 2017: All branches closed in observance of New Year's Day.  

In addition, the Mary Weems Parker Memorial Library in Heidelberg will be closed on the following Saturdays: December 24th & 31st 

Make sure to plan accordingly so that you aren't without your favorite books and movies during the holidays. We wish you and your family the best during this holiday season!

Celebrating Anna Dewdney

Anna Dewdney's "Llama, Llama" series of books are beloved by millions all over the world, as well as by young readers right here in Clarke and Jasper counties. We were all saddened to learn of Ms. Dewdney's passing this week at the age of 50. We encourage you to help honor her last request to celebrate her life and work by reading a book to a child.

UPDATE (9/7/16):  Most of the books and movies are now in their new homes! Currently we are in the process of moving computers and waiting on a few more pieces of furniture to arrive. Then we will have a new children's area and new computer rooms! We thank you again so much for your patience as we go through this process.

Bay Springs Library Adult Coloring Club

The Bay Springs Adult Coloring Club will be meeting tomorrow at the Bay Springs Municipal Library at 10:00 AM and 5:30 PM. The club meets the first Tuesday of every month, and all are welcome. Call 601-764-2291 for more information. Come join the fun!

Had a blast today at BayFest in the city of Bay Springs, Mississippi signing folks up for library cards and chatting about all the services we have to offer all of you. We may even have given out a free book or two! Be sure to visit our booth tomorrow! Hope to see you there!

EMRLS Now Hiring

The East Mississippi Regional Library System, an equal opportunity employer, is accepting applications for a full-time librarian at the Bay Springs Municipal Library. The successful applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent, excellent computer and customer service skills, be good with children, have knowledge about books, a love for reading, and reliable transportation. Some college and relevant work experience is preferred, and a resume is requested. Applications will be accepted and a required skills test will be administered between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Thursday at the Bay Springs Library, beginning on May 9th. The deadline for applications will be May 25th. Please call 601-776-3881 with any questions.

This year we will be focusing on wellness, fitness, and sports with the theme: “On Your Mark, Get Set, READ!” 

Activities will be held at our Bay Springs, Pachuta, Quitman, and Stonewall branches. Visit any of these branches to sign up!

New Business Hours - Effective May 1st

Due to patron demand, we will have new hours on Wednesdays at our Mary Weems Parker Memorial branch in Heidelberg, as well as our Pachuta and Stonewall branches. The new hours will be 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM, effective May 1st, making our new weekly business schedule Monday - Thursday 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM at those branches. We hope that these hours will be more convenient for everyone!

The East Mississippi Regional Library System will be observing the following revised hours over the next few business days due to a staff development day and state holiday:

Thursday, April 21st:

• Bay Springs Municipal Library: 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM
• Quitman Public Library: 8:00 AM - Noon
• Enterprise, Heidelberg, Pachuta, and Stonewall libraries will be closed for the day.

Monday, April 25th:
All EMRLS branch locations will be closed in observance of the Confederate Memorial Day.
