Women's History Month - Louise Erdrich

March is Women's History Month, and we're celebrating it by recognizing some notable female authors who have played a vital role in the writing and publishing industry. Our last spotlight for the month is on Louise Erdrich. 

📚 Louise Erdrich is an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians and is the author of 28 books. She writes poetry, novels, and children's books featuring Native American settings and characters and is widely known as one of the most prestigious Native American Renaissance writers. In 2012, she received the National Book Award for Fiction for her novel The Round House, and she was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for her novel The Night Watchman in 2021. 📚

Women's History Month - Toni Morrison

March is Women's History Month, and we're celebrating it by recognizing some notable female authors who have played a vital role in the writing and publishing industry. Today's spotlight is on Toni Morrison. 

📚 Toni Morrison was an American novelist. She won the Pulitzer Prize in 1988 for her novel Beloved, and in 1993 she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. Toni graduated with a B.A. in English from Howard University in 1953, and she earned a master's degree in American Literature in 1955 from Cornell University. She received many awards during her longstanding career, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2012. She was also inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in 2020. 📚

Women's History Month - Eudora Welty

March is Women's History Month, and we're celebrating it by recognizing some notable female authors who have played a vital role in the writing and publishing industry. Today's spotlight is on Eudora Welty.

📚 Mississippi native Eudora Welty was a novelist, short story writer, and photographer. In 1973, her novel The Optimist's Daughter won the Pulitzer Prize, and she was the first living author to have her works published in the prestigious Library of America series. Welty received numerous awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and she was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in 2000. 📚

Women's History Month - Maya Angelou

March is Women's History Month, and we're celebrating it by recognizing some notable female authors who have played a vital role in the writing and publishing industry. Today's spotlight is on Maya Angelou.  

📚 Maya was an American novelist and poet who penned three books of essays, seven autobiographies, and numerous poetry collections. One of her most well-known works is her first autobiography, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, which details her life from childhood to age seventeen. Maya also wrote several movies, plays, and television shows during her longstanding career. She received more than 50 honorary degrees and dozens of awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, three Grammy's, and a Pulitzer Prize nomination. 📚
